YEC Terms and Conditions

The Young Educators Challenge (YEC) is organized by Project ID. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before applying to be the participant for YEC. By participating, it is implied that the students doing so have understood and agreed upon fully and unconditionally to be bound by the terms and conditions as stated in the following. If you do not agree to any of these terms and conditions, you must not proceed to participate in the challenge. 

Eligibility

  • YEC is only open to all students currently enrolling at a secondary school across Malaysia in public, private or international schools. Pre-University levels are not included, such as Form 6 and Matriculation.

  • Applicants must be Malaysian students, aged 13 - 18.

  • Each team must consist of 3 students only.

  • Applications can only be submitted by a group of 3 individuals.

  • Each team must have a supervising teacher in-charge.

Entry

  • To participate in the Challenge, participants must first be selected by applying on our website.

  • Applications will be open on 15th August and will be closed on 15th September.

    • Update: Application Deadline has been extended to 21 September 2022.

  • Applications received after the deadline will be automatically rejected and will not be taken into consideration.

  • There will be no fees imposed during selections nor participation.

  • Shortlisted participants will be informed through e-mail around a week from 15th September.

  • All decisions regarding shortlisted participants are final.

Challenge

The Panel of Judges will evaluate the learning recovery projects piloted based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation in learning

  • Creativity and practicality

  • Impact Measurement

Winning Prizes

The organiser of the Challenge will be obligated to award the following prizes to the winners as stated below:

  • 1st Place Prize: RM48,000 worth of Bursaries to Sunway College* + RM2,000 Cash Prize

  • 2nd Place Prize: RM36,000 worth of Bursaries to Sunway College* + RM1,500 Cash Prize

  • 3rd Place Prize: RM24,000 worth of Bursaries to Sunway College* + RM1,000 Cash Prize

Prizes are fixed and not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be exchanged for one thing or another. The organiser accepts no responsibility for any tax or other liability that may arise from the prize winnings.

The organizer reserves the right to request the winners to provide proof of identification in order to claim the winning prize. Failure to do so may cause forfeiture of the prize.

Disqualification

  • The whole team will be disqualified immediately from the Challenge if it is found that plagiarism from another team is committed.

  • Organiser has the right to disqualify team that is found to violate the terms and conditions stipulated.

Copyright and Right to Ownership

The copyright of all the teams’ works shall be in accordance with the Copyright Act 1987 (ACT 332) and any of its amendments for the time being in force in Malaysia.

The originator of the idea shall retain the copyright of his work whereby no alterations may be made without his formal consent.

In all cases, the originator of the idea shall retain the right of reproduction, subject always to the provision of Article 16 (b) above.

Personal Data Protection

For Participants

You represent that you are over the age of thirteen (13) years old. If you are over thirteen, but under the legal age of majority, your parent or legal guardian must consent to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, and affirm that they accept this Agreement on behalf of, and bear all legal and financial responsibility and liability for the actions of, any child between the age of 13 and majority, and expressly ratify and confirm any acts of any such child and all users of the account.

For Parents/Guardians

INTRODUCTION

  1. This Personal Data Protection Notice (“Notice”) is issued pursuant to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (“Act”) and for the purpose of this Notice, "Personal Data" shall have the meaning as ascribed to it under the Act.

  2. We recognize the importance of maintaining the privacy, security and accuracy of Personal Data in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, consistent with our responsibilities and applicable law. We are committed to ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of Personal Data relating to you and your child.

  3. This Notice applies to the persons governed under the Act and serves to inform you how your Personal Data is controlled, processed and/or used by Project ID.

  4. For the purpose of this Agreement, Personal Data includes data collected and to be collected before and after issuance of this Notice.

  5. This notice is issued in accordance with the Act to all individuals who voluntarily submit Personal Data to Project ID for the stated purposes.

DATA COLLECTION

  1. Individuals involved in the collection of Personal Data include parents/guardians, children (children under the age of 18 with the permission of parents/guardians) and Project ID employees.

  2. Personal data we collect from you and your child according to individual needs is inclusive of:

    • Personal identification: name, home address, email, telephone number, school name, bank account number and other details required and submitted to us from time to time.

SOURCES OF DATA COLECTION

  1. Personal Data is collected directly from you and your child when:

    • Your child submits an application to participate in the Young Educators Challenge 2022 via the Google Form on our website.

    • You sign and submit the parent/guardian consent form and media release form on your child’s behalf.

  2. Personal data is collected digitally through the website or through other virtual forms that are deemed appropriate.

PURPOSES OF DATA COLLECTION

We collect your Personal Data for the following purposes:

  1. Process your child’s application for Young Educators Challenge 2022.

  2. Provide important information or notices regarding any changes in policies, rules, programs or activities that directly involve you or your child.

  3. Conduct pre- and post-programme surveys or focus group discussions to collect feedback about how the programme can be improved.

  4. Conduct statistical analysis when necessary for our impact reports.

  5. To complete any survey or collection of information from the authorities allowed under the provisions of the Act.

  6. Share with relevant third parties for the welfare of students/employees.

  7. Share with relevant third parties for the disbursement of grant and prize money.

  8. Allow Project ID to contact you for any of the above purposes or any other purpose permitted in the Act via email, regular mail, short messaging service (SMS), WhatsApp messages or any other appropriate communication channel.

HOW DATA IS PROCESSED

We process your Personal Data only within Malaysia. No Personal Data will be transferred outside Malaysia.

SECURITY AND INTEGRITY

We take the following security measures to protect your Personal Data :

  1. Ensure that your personal data is stored properly in accordance with the requirements of Act.

  2. Ensure that our employees do not misuse your personal data.

  3. All reasonable efforts and practical steps are made to ensure that any Personal Data held by Project ID is protected against any loss, misuse, modification, unauthorized or accidental access or disclosure, alteration or destruction.

RIGHTS AND CONSENT

  1. When your child submits his/her application, you are required to submit your Personal Data to us on a voluntary basis and you consent for us to collect, process, use, store or limit the processing of your Personal Data for any of the purposes set out above

  2. You may at any time thereafter withdraw your consent by notifying us in writing using the contact details stated in the “Contact Us” information.

  3. If you do not provide your Personal Data or if sufficient Personal Data is not provided to us when requested, it may:

    • Cause the selection process for participants of Young Educators Challenge 2022 to be affected and may allow any application to be rejected.

    • Limits our communication with you and causes you to not receive proper information from us.

    • Affects our ability to fulfill the purposes of collection of Personal Data as mentioned above.

  4. From time to time, we may request new Personal Data from you. By providing us with your Personal Data or continuing to communicate with Project ID, we will assume that you have consented to the processing of such Personal Data.

  5. Project ID reserves the right to modify, update or amend the terms of this at any time by posting the updated Notice on the Project ID website at https://project-id.org/yec-terms-conditions. By continuing to communicate with us, all modifications, updates or amendments to this Notice, are deemed to have been accepted by you.

Liability

  • Project ID would not bear any loss of the participants throughout the duration of the program due to reasons beyond their control.

  • Project ID shall not be liable for any defects (physical or operational) to the prizes.

  • Project ID shall not be held liable for any failure in the deliverance of the session due to the ineptitude of the respective telecommunication service providers to provide efficient internet service.
