CIMB Mozek
Origin
In 2018, CIMB Foundation reached out to us to discuss the potential of collaborating to create a 5D4N camp on unity and diversity. From that point on CIMB Mozek was born, a fun one-week holiday camp to promote integration and unity among school students. It provided a platform for primary and secondary school students to benefit from a specially curated syllabus designed to instill respect and cultivate inter-ethnic understanding.
Closing Activity: Students dress in their cultural outfits while working together to plan and execute performances for their fellow peers.
Unity Activity: Students work together to create a “human rotating tyre” and move forward as a team.
The Programme
By embedding the concept of diversity and inclusion in various subjects, the programme aimed to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of one’s culture, as well as of others’ backgrounds and differences and to use that to work together to overcome different challenges. It embraced “Diversity and Inclusion” as a principle to ensure that the programme would benefit as many people as possible, regardless of their race, religion, age or gender.
Through the programme, participants were taught the concept of stereotypes, unconscious bias, collaboration and team spirit through various interactive activities. As part of a growing movement in STEM education, students were also put into teams where they worked on Arduino projects based on a theme related to National Unity. They not only managed and developed their projects, but also presented their Arduino arcade projects to sponsors and various stakeholders on the final day of the camp.
