Experts are not the only ones who know best. Sometimes, students know better especially if they are the ones who are facing the problem.
This was the basis of the Young Educators Challenge (YEC) which saw secondary school students pitch and showcase their ideas to improve the online learning experience.
‘Subang Kid’ Starts Uplifting & Empowering Project To Help Malaysian Students Achieve Their Dreams

When Kelvin Tan first became a teacher, he first noticed that not all students were lucky enough to have the privilege of having a stable socioeconomic background. Being a ‘Subang kid’ himself, Kelvin acknowledges that he had a great childhood growing up. His parents exposed him to new avenues and instilled various life values in him – things that his students weren’t able to receive from their homes.
Thus, he decided to form a simple project called Project ID.
Lessons in a box

The ‘Learning Box’ was designed to reach students in rural communities and schools to provide them with exciting and fun learning resources that can keep them engaged and allow them to learn at home.
The boxes were created with the help of hands-on subscription box provider Atom & the Dot and Project ID, a TFM alumni organisation.

Unicef commemorated the day with a #KidsTakeOver campaign, in which children took over roles in media, politics and business, among others, to speak on issues close to their hearts.

Changing the classroom and beyond

Located in Klang, the locals used to regard SMK Pendamaran Jaya (SMKPJ) as a school for hoodlums until Teach for Malaysia (TFM), a nonprofit organisation aiming to help children in Malaysia attain an excellent education, started sending its “fellows” to this school.
The fellows are actually young graduates and professionals recruited to teach at highneed public schools for a period of two years. Since 2012, SMKPJ has hosted 11 TFM fellows. Currently, four fellows are working there with multiple TFM alumni programmes to empower the students.
Role Model Sharing Session in collaboration with Project ID: Impianku Destinasiku

This is an annual activity organised by Project ID whereby individuals from different industries are invited to share their career experiences with Project ID students.

The visit was in conjunction with Project ID: Impianku Destinasiku under Teach For Malaysia (TFM).

A GROUP of 40 students from SMK Pendamaran Jaya, Klang visited a glove manufacturing factory in Bestari Jaya, Selangor recently.
The visit was part of a Teach For Malaysia (TFM) project known as Project ID: Impianku Destinasiku, to expose students on the glove production process at the factory, which is under Hartalega Holdings Bhd.
